6 Ways Marvel Has Completely F**ked Up Comic Books For Everyone

1. They Try And Fail To Make Z-List Characters A Thing

If you've ever been online during one of Marvel's live-Tweeting sessions for shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, you'll know that it's an hour of unbearable snarkiness and the kind of insights better suited to what you'd find being posted by overexcited teenagers on Tumblr. Somehow, this attitude has found its way into their comics as Marvel continues to try and make hits out of titles featuring characters like Howard the Duck, Squirrel Girl, and even every single member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In recent years, all but a few of their attempts to make Z-List heroes the next big thing have spectacularly failed. It's almost as if Marvel are entirely led by what they see on social media; desperate to be the "cool kids" and to fit in, they launch a new series for pretty much any character they see causing a stir online and then act surprised when these books end up being cancelled before they can even reach a year's worth of issues. While you have to give them some credit for trying new things, they're damaging the credibility of the characters who are being shoved into comics they're unable to hold by themselves and doing the up and coming writers and artists they put on them no favours at all. It honestly just feels like they've completely lost the plot. What do you think of the current state of Marvel? Are they set for disaster or can the ship be steadied? Have your say down in the comments.
