2. Alitha Martinez
Having worked in comics since the 90s, starting out as an assistant to Joe Quesada, Martinez has since illustrated huge titles like Iron Man, X-Men: Black Sun, Fantastic Four and Voltron. Her more recent work has included Black Panther: World of Wakanda, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur; for DC she worked for many issues alongside Gail Simone for her New 52 Batgirl run, and with Image she illustrated the Lazarus spin-off series for Image, Lazarus+66,
In addition to her solely independent book Yume & Ever, a series she also wrote, Martinez has done plenty of work aimed towards a younger audience for Graphic Universe, such as Kung Fu Masters with Evonne Tsang, The Quest for Dragon Mountain with Robin Mayhall, and My Boyfriend is a Monster #3: My Boyfriend Bites with Dan Jolley.
Last year she debuted a new series with Devin Grayson for Humanoids, entitled Omni, about a gifted doctor who gains incredible cognitive abilities from an accident, giving her access to the secrets of the universe.
