7 Comic Book Storylines That Would Make Epic Movies

5. Hush

Written by Jeph Loeb, with perhaps some of Jim Lee's finest pencils, Hush would make for a fantastic Batman film on so many levels. Once WB finishes putting Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman together in order to form the Justice League, there's an inevitable feeling that Affleck will take the reigns in a solo film about the Dark Knight. While it's commonplace for Batman to spend a movie hunting some criminal who needs to be brought to justice, Hush would give you the opportunity to make a Batman film where the criminal is hunting him. Featuring an all-star cast of super villains, and even an extended appearance from Superman, Hush tells the story of Batman being stalked by an unknown enemy. One thing that Jeph Loeb has always excelled at in comic book writing is the big reveal. And Hush is full of 'em. Nearly every page is an exclamation point, punctuated with the reveal that gets your juices pumping. Imagine the cinematic version of Superman locked seductively in the arms of Poison Ivy, with full knowledge that he's about to lay a beatdown on Batman. There's so much more, and one thing that is perhaps missing from comic book films, is the feeling you get in a comic when a panel reveals shocking information. It's incredible, and few comic book films do it properly. Even so, if we're talking strictly about how to adapt Hush into a two hour film, there's a few things you might have to leave off the table. For example, maybe Batman fighting Jason Todd in a graveyard, only for it to be revealed as Clayface, might not be pertinent to the on-screen version of the story you're trying to tell. Break it down to the basics of the story, which is seeing Batman, the man in the DC Universe who is always prepared, become the one who has to look over his shoulder. His every move, decision and action, is invalidated by an enemy who seems to know him better than he even knows himself.
