7 Comic Book Storylines That Would Make Epic Movies
2. Secret Invasion
On paper, Secret Invasion sounds awesome. The Skrulls have infiltrated the heroes, and they're planning to destroy their ranks from within. On the printed page, it was even better than that. When it comes to villains in Marvel Comics, you can't get much cooler than the Skrulls. While their Ultimate Marvel counterpart, the Chitauri, were featured in the 2012's The Avengers, it still might be good to dust them off in a few years and reveal that they've been planning their revenge this whole time. In reality, the plot of the story writes itself for the proposed film version. You've already established them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and can easily weave them back in at any point you choose. Its "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" motif would give you the chance to do something a little different with the current Marvel films. There's equal parts paranoia, drama and excitement available in a story like this. Playing off the fear of who might be a Skrull would give the heroes a nice sense of urgency and keep the story moving for two hours. Propelling yourself from this even further, you could use it to destabilize the status quo of the MCU, and shake things up. Maybe a new team has to form in the wake of the disaster, and the New Avengers come to town? Or maybe it even starts crossing over with the Netflix shows, and you can start cross-promoting between that, the movies and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to make the story even bigger. Give fans something to follow across all the mediums, and you have a license to print money.
