4. Old Man Hawkeye
In 2008, Mark Millar, Steve McNiven, and Dexter Vines created a Wolverine story titled "Old Man Logan". In this alternate universe, the villains defeated the vast majority of the heroes in a climatic battle. This left the world a lawless wasteland where villains fight for territory and the only heroes still alive are quickly ageing.
The Old Man universe is the perfect setting for a "dad" movie. It's hardcore, filled with mature heroes, and it's also rife with dramatic potential for all. While 2017's Logan means that we won't get an Old Man Logan movie, there is another character featured prominently in the story: Old Man Hawkeye.
A blind, aging Hawkeye still clinging onto his heroic virtues would be a fantastic character to lead audiences through this darkest timeline. Hawkeye is an interesting character in the comics and will almost always have the deck stacked against him in a world like this.
