8 Confessions Of A Marvel Fan After Reading DC Comics
1. The Marvel Vs DC Rivalry Is Pointless
This is by far the biggest surprise I found when embracing the dark side. Despite what every website in history would have you believe, when it comes to the creators, there is no rivalry between Marvel and DC. Countless of high profile artists and writers have swapped between the two publishers, including Brian Michael Bendis, Jim Starlin, even the great Jack Kirby.
Even though it's been many years since the last crossover, the two aren't actively competing against each other. In reality, the two feed off each other and as creators travel between publishers, ideas spill over and can have a big influence on the characters. For instance, look at Harley Quinn again, at this stage she's DC's version of Deadpool, anti-hero merc who's entire skin was burned off (albeit in different ways).
DC's use of humour has increased massively since Marvel decided to lighten the books up and in turn, that has boosted sales on both sides as more fans find the switch way less jarring. So while some people see a vicious rivalry, when you look deeper you find they're both growing together in an almost symbiotic sense.
