8 Incredibly Ridiculous Things About Early Ant-Man Comics
6. Ant-Man Finds Crime Via Ant Gossip
One of the scariest parts about classic Ant-Man is the way he hears about his crimes. Occasionally, he will stumble across a crime scene on his own, but most of the time he is told that something has happened by his ants.
Why do they do this? Well according to Hank, it's because ants are his friends and partners in the war against crime. Why ants would really care about crime at all is questionable, but sure let's go with that.
So Hank Pym apparently has every ant in the city reporting crime back to him should they happen to hear about something. It may seem obvious, but ants are everywhere. Ant-Man could theoretically hear about anything he wants to, anytime. But instead of telling literally anyone else about it to get some help in crimefighting, he takes it upon himself to play vigilante. Hank has not only failed to fully understand his most useful power, but he has also created a terrifying totalitarian surveillance weapon with serious potential for misuse.
