Jack Kirby's New Gods aren't just the greatest selection of comic book characters in the DC Universe, but one of their oldest too.
Residing on the worlds of Apokolips and New Genesis, the New Gods are direct descendants of the Norse pantheon of Gods, emerging out of what Kirby had left behind at Marvel with Thor. They also exist outside of conventional forms of Time and Space, making them immortal, and among the oldest beings in the cosmos.
Some beings are certainly older than others, while certain figures like Darkseid have even been killed at various points, thus resetting their age entirely. Be that as it may, the New Gods and the other heroes and villains of Kirby's Fourth World are immortal both literally and figuratively - they simply cannot be beaten.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
