8 Reasons You're Wrong About Hawkeye
4. Every Outfit Works (In Its Own Way)
For one reason or another Hawkeye's wardrobe tends to be the one that falls afoul of criticism the most often. Despite serving alongside heroes with arguably flashier wardrobes, everyone tends to dwell on the various purple numbers the character has sported since arriving on the scene in 1964.
Except... they're not all that bad. In fact, it's fair to say a whole bunch are downright iconic, with the original purple mask look having been with the character all the way up to the turn of the century, where it was reimagined as black and burgundy in Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's Ultimates book.
Hitch's design went on to inspire Hawkeye's outfit in the MCU, but the character's most recent look has also proven to be a hit with fans. The simple combo of a black and purple shirt, combined with black pants and an archery sleeve, has persisted for the last seven-or-so years now. Occasionally add a pair of goggles into the mix, and it's possible to say that Hawkeye is one of the most stylish Avengers going.
That's without even mentioning Kate Bishop's recent outfit, which (hip-holes aside, maybe?) has also proven to be a hit.
