8 Things DC Comics Wants You To Forget About Poison Ivy
3. Her New 52 Redesign (Even Though It's Great)
There were plenty of things wrong with the New 52, but Poison Ivy's redesign was most definitely not one of them.
Drawn above by the always amazing Jason Fabok, the costume marked a major departure for Ivy, who'd mostly been drawn sporting nothing but an Adam and Eve-esque assortment of leaves in the comics for a while. Instead, she was outfitted with a sleek green and black jumpsuit and it looked great.
Not only that, but it changed with the seasons as well - come Autumn, the green switched to red, and it was just a great addition to an outfit that had, for some time at least, failed to get a modern update. This is made even better by the fact that the New 52 seemed to herald fashion disasters left right and centre, so to see Ivy emerge with a modern look was uniquely refreshing.
And while DC Rebirth continues to be the reboot the New 52 should have been, Ivy's redesign is nowhere to be seen. Her latest look is a nice enough throwback to the character's original BTAS design, but we still feel as though the New 52's costume wasn't given nearly enough time to settle, even with the awesome seasonal changes it introduced.
