8 Things DC Comics Wants You To Forget About Poison Ivy

2. She Joined The Wrong Team In Injustice 2

Injustice 2 may just be the finest fighting game of the year, but it didn't get everything right.

While the events of the game's story takes place in an alternate reality where Superman went full fascist and Wonder Woman turned into the Amazonian reflection of Lady Macbeth, NetherRealm seemed to get most of DC's characters down to a T. Harley Quinn in particular was the subject of a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging portrayal which led to one of the greatest gaming moments of the year, but Ivy? Well... things weren't as good.

Apparently NetherRealm didn't get the memo that Pamela has a bit more to her than just a love of plants, because it positions her on the side of the Secret Society for most of the game. Worse yet, she splits away from Harley and, in the arcade mode, her ending has her raze the Earth to start anew, leading to a later confrontation with Swamp Thing for control over the planet.

While that's a pretty nifty reality as far as post-apocalyptic futures go, Ivy's characterisation in the game felt lacking, with only the base elements of the villain getting a nod in the title's (sillily fun) story.
