8 Things We Learned From DC's June 2019 Solicitations

2. Adam Hughes Pays Homage To The Fleischer Studios With Superman #12

As with Samnee, Maleev, and frankly every artist mentioned so far, it's always a welcome treat to see Adam Hughes plying his trade at DC. He's handling variant cover duties for Superman #12 which, unlike Action Comics, won't be tying into Event Leviathan (at least as far as the solicits let on).

However, even though Superman's main series doesn't look as though it'll be getting in on the Leviathan act, it will be having a crossover of sorts. Supergirl and Superboy will both be taking part in the Bendis-helmed, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado illustrated comic, while they all fend off attacks from the likes of General Zod and Rogol Zaar.

Back to Hughes' cover for a second though, because it's wonderful in its simplicity. If it looks familiar too then that's probably because it should be, as Hughes has seemingly opted to pay homage to one of the famous poses struck by the Fleischer Studios' Superman in their cartoons from the 1940s.

It's a great look, and yet another incentive to check out Bendis' new-look Superman books. When was the last time the character was in such a good position?
