8 Times Asgard Went To War

6. Siege

Following Secret Invasion, Norman Osborn used the chaotic state the world was in to build up his power. Norman was named the director of H.A.M.M.E.R., an organization meant to replace S.H.I.E.L.D; he unveiled his Dark Avengers composed of various different villains working for Osborn in exchange for a place in the New World Order.

After further consolidating power and influence within the U.S. government, Norman and Loki orchestrated the mass murder of hundreds of people at a football game and made the tragedy appear to be Asgard's fault.

Moving quickly, Osborn sends his forces to attack Asgard, which was then located in Oklahoma for... reasons. During the battle the Sentry, who has been working with Osborn since the beginning, rips a traitorous Ares in half, before the Avengers, Young Avengers, and Secret Warriors arrive to defend Asgard. With the President ordering the military to attack H.A.M.M.E.R., the truth about the stadium tragedy quickly spreading - and Asgard and the Avengers turning the tide of the battle in their favor - Norman orders the Sentry to destroy Asgard, causing it to come crashing down onto Oklahoma.

The battle only ends after the Void rips Loki in half for betraying Norman, only to be hit with a H.A.M.M.E.R. hellicarrier and all of Thor's strength, thereby killing the Sentry/Void and putting and end to Osborn’s schemes.
