8 Times Wolverine Died In The Comics

1. Covered In Molten Adamantium

Back in 2014, Marvel announced The Death of Wolverine, a series that promised to be the final story arc for the fan favourite character, serving as a fitting denouement for Logan's 40 years of continuity.

Naturally, readers scoffed at the idea given the amount of times they'd been fed similar claims. The death of Superman. The death of Captain America. The death of Spider-Man. It'd all been heard before; there was no way they'd kill off such a powerhouse in the Marvel Universe for good.

Was there?

After losing his healing factor to a deadly virus, Wolverine learns that Dr. Abraham Cornelius, the scientist responsible for the Adamantium bonding process, has put a price on his head. Wolverine tracks down Cornelius, who reveals that he needs Wolverine's healing factor in order to recreate his previous experiments, and is furious to learn that Wolverine no longer has the power he needs.

Cornelius then sets one of his experiments loose on Wolverine, who manages to dispatch it, but is covered in molten Adamantium in the process, slowly weighing him down as he attempts to trudge away. Just about managing to take out Cornelius, Wolverine soon succumbs to the Adamantium, and thinks back to all the things he's been able to do throughout his life; content in his final moments.

In fairness to Marvel, despite the speculation that the impending Secret Wars would reset Wolverine's continuity, Marvel seems to have really stuck to their guns here, and while there are alternate versions of the character running around, the Wolverine we know and love is, for now at least, dead.
