9 Fantastic Daredevil Comic Runs

8. The Man Without Fear

Before re-inventing Batman, Miller tried his hand at Daredevil and found massive success. He brought a darker, sickening New York City to life, where an orphan like Matt Murdock would be used to hell by the time he had to dish it out. Following Matt in his college years, meeting Elektra, and finally donning his iconic red suit on the last page, Miller begins the slow descent into the mind of Matt Murdock, something constantly under development in the hands of later writers Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Andy Diggle, and Mark Waid. This was Daredevil's reboot from the Stan Lee age, where Murdock finds himself not just at odds with the criminals of the city, but with himself, his moral code, and his physical limitations and handicap in a harsher light. Oh, and ninjas. Lots and lots of ninjas. What are you waiting for? Buy it here!

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
