9 Fantastic Daredevil Comic Runs

7. Daredevil: In Love and War

Another Frank Miller work, this one is beautifully drawn by the ever skillful (and off-the-wall) Bill Sienkiewicz and features more of a presence in Daredevil's greatest enemy, the Kingpin. With his wife stricken by a mysterious disease, Wilson Fisk kidnaps the wife of a famous French doctor in hopes to coerce him into saving the mob boss' spouse. What follows is an enchanting, heartbreaking story fueled by Sienkiewicz's masterful pages and some of Miller's finest dialogue. If you want human, hurting, and desperate criminals, In Love and War is a must-read. And while the artwork certainly isn't for everyone, it's a well-defined, stylistic masterpiece, especially considering what else was on the market at the time of its debut. Hell, it still holds up as some of the most original work by today's standards. What are you waiting for? Buy it now!

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
