6. Neal Adams' Batman
Neal Adams' darker comic book version of Batman was introduced in 1969. This grittier and more realistic version breathed new life into the Dark Knight and set the tone for the Batman fans know today.
It also made a refreshing change from the previously outrageous and camp versions of the character that had threatened to see it cancelled.
