Batman Damned Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

6. Deadman

Batman: Damned Deadman
DC Comics

Boston Brand, A.K.A. Deadman. He was a trapeze artist before being murdered mid-act by a man called The Hook. But during Batman: Damned he's introduced alongside Constantine.

Our favourite part of his inclusion? The horrific interpretation of his costume. Usually, his costume looks like a performers spandex outfit, with a huge collar and D emblazoned on the front.

However, Deadman's costume in Batman: Damned looks as if his entire body has been flayed of his skin, with all the exposed muscles underneath. It's a visceral take on a typical superhero costume, and it works very effectively. The white parts of his costume look like bone, including the D logo on his chest. But one intricate detail that literally sticks out, is his spine being visible from the back - it's almost wince-worthy.
