The inclusion of another magical hero in Batman: Damned really surprised us; Zatanna appearing midway through was a fantastic touch. Bruce disguises himself as a homeless man and keeps an eye on Gotham's streets, searching for clues about The Joker's death. But who he actually finds is Zatanna.

She's the daughter of Zatara, another magician, and she uses her magic by speaking simple commands backwards. And although her introduction here is brief, we get another gritty realistic take on her costume. Instead of the fishnets and tuxedo look, she's wearing high waisted shorts, a black leather jacket and a top hat.

A very modern look for Zatanna that still matches her with Constantine and Deadman. It's almost as if the writer, Brian Azzarello is readily assembling a group of magic based heroes...
