1. The Beginning Of The End
DC ComicsThe opening page of Eternal #1 remains the most compelling series of panels thus far in the extensive story arc. While eerily reminiscent of Grant Morrison's run on Batman, the flash-forward to "The End" on the very first page does provide a lot of intrigue. We see Bruce Wayne tied to the Batsignal, a bleeding Batman logo carved onto his chest, and Gotham City burning around him. An unseen evil speaks to him:
Your allies have been slaughtered. Your city is burning to the ground. I have taken everything from you, piece by piece. Watch, Bruce€watch as you lose everything.
This is the primary antagonist of Eternal, although it's not clear whether this true villain has popped up yet. Is it Falcone? Surely not. Blackfire? Who knows? Events have already begun to spin out of control, and we're told from the first page that things are going to get very, very bad before they get any better.
