Batman: The Adventures Continue - Everything We Know About BTAS' Return

3. It Takes Place Before The Flashbacks Of Batman: Return Of The Joker

While both the illustration style and concept of Batman: The Adventures Continue answer a lot of questions in terms of when the events take place in the overall DCAU continuity, there were still some question marks over when exactly within that New Batman Adventures continuity they will occur... or at least there would be if EW hadn't already given readers the answer they were looking for: Yes, the comic is indeed set before the events of the Batman: Return of the Joker flashbacks.

A Batman Beyond offering, that film used the apparent return of The Joker in the future to flash back to the present in order to showcase how the Bat-Family's triumphant reign over Gotham City came to an end when The Clown Prince Of Crime and Harley Quinn kidnapped and brainwashed Tim into becoming a mini Joker. The resulting battle legitimately killed The Joker and also resulted in Harley's disappearance, and the whole thing forced Batman to disband his team of heroes and send Tim away from him for good.

Given how sparse the line-up of heroes would have been, it's good to know that the comic will indeed be taking place before this ever comes to pass. The question is: How do they fit Jason Todd into a narrative that already has a definitive end (in which he isn't involved)?
