Captain Marvel: 10 Comics Fans Must Read After Seeing The Film

4. Higher, Further, Faster, More

The Enemy Within
Marvel Comics

The phrase "Higher, Further, Faster" wasn't just pulled out of nowhere for the Captain Marvel movie. That (and everything else) came from the comics, and this collection of issues from Captain Marvel was perfectly titled as such. While much of her career has spanned the stars, it wasn't always so, and it had to start somewhere.

This story tells the tale of how Carol Danvers ends up leaving the planet to helps return a young alien girl to her home planet. When she takes on the mission, she had no clue she would be thrust into an alien uprising against the Galactic Alliance!

As players from Danvers' past come out of the woodwork with a blackmail attempt, she has to ask herself if she would be better off working among the stars. Should she remain as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, or should she embark on an astronomical adventure and become a hero of the cosmos.

For starters, this book features one of the best drawings of the character thanks to the impressive pencils provided by David Lopez, but the writing work of Kelly DeConnick helped to redefine the character. This one is an absolute must-read for anyone who either is a fan of Captain Marvel or is interested in becoming one!
