A long time companion to The Hulk, Rick Jones was a young man and a recurring character in the earlier Marvel stories, known for assisting in various heroes' missions and stories as the quintessential sidekick to the Avengers.

His most prominent partnership came when he left the Avengers and was telepathically bonded to the original Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell, using tools called the Nega-Bands to switch places with him. When Captain Marvel was trapped in the Negative Zone for a time, Rick was able to free him with the Nega-Bands, but only for short periods.

For a time, they went on adventures together, changing places whenever Mar-Vell was needed, before the Kree-Skrull war found Rick Jones (but technically, both of them) freed him from the Negative Zone for good.

He was one Mar-Vell's closest friends, and was at his bedside when he passed away.

Rick would eventually go back to helping The Hulk as one of his longtime companions. Though he would go on many more adventures, he'd also pursue a normal life and a musical career, and even author a book about his adventures as a sidekick to many different heroes.
