Dawn Of X: 10 Spin-Off Comics Marvel Must Make

4. Juliana Sandoval

X-Men Dazzler
Fox

Roberto Da Costa (Sunspot) first manifested his superhuman mutant powers whilst he was playing in a championship soccer match for his school team.

A boy purposefully knocked Da Costa to the ground. It was then that, without being aware of what was happening to him, Da Costa first manifested his superhuman strength.

Confused and frightened, Da Costa sought help, but both the other players and most of the spectators panicked and fled. However, his girlfriend, Juliana Sandoval, stood by Roberto in his time of need.

Roberto's powers came to the attention of Donald Pierce whose mercenaries fail to abduct Roberto, but then kidnap Juliana instead. Professor Charles Xavier had learned of Pierce's plan to kill Roberto and sent his colleagues to help Da Costa.

Roberto agreed to meet with Pierce's men in order to obtain Sandoval's release, but the mercenaries refused to free her. During a fight one of the mercenaries fired at Da Costa, but Juliana leaped in front of Da Costa, taking the fatal bullet herself

Juliana deserves her own spin-off. No, she’s not a mutant. No, she has no power; but wouldn’t it be amazing to view the happenings in up until her death through her own eyes as she struggles to come to terms with Roberto’s powers (can one love someone so powerful?) and eventually makes the ultimate sacrifice to prove her love to him.
