Every Time Thor Has Died In Comics (And How He Came Back To Life)

1. Annihilus - The Infinity Finale

When you remember that in at least two comics Thanos has brutally murdered Thor, it's strange to see them work together in The Infinity Finale, right before the God of Thunder is exploded into smithereens by Annihilus, the Lord of the Negative Zone.

Though an unusual set-up, this does all make sense in the context of the comic, where heroes and villains alike are forced to put aside their differences to stop Annihilus murdering every single one of them. After Thanos rejoins the fray - having just come back from death himself - he too joins the fight against Annhilus, motivated almost entirely by anger at the bug outmaneuvering him in their past encounters.

While there are many ways that Thanos and Thor do not get on, their shared gusto for a dramatic death brings them into a weirdly close bond in their final fight, right up until the Odinson straight up explodes.

Ultimately, this sacrifice would be undone when Adam Warlock destroyed - and then rebuilt - the entire universe in the same series, meaning Thor likely isn't even aware these events happened in the first place.
