Every Time Thor Has Died In Comics (And How He Came Back To Life)

6. Thanos - The Infinity Gauntlet

Thor Odin
Marvel Comics

For anyone who has up to date with the Infinity Gauntlet saga, the Infinity War film was an unnerving time, as the saga itself contained Thor dying in pretty hardcore form, which meant at the time there was a good chance that the film based on it would follow suit.

As, when Thor goes to fight Thanos after he gains the gauntlet, things go less than swimmingly, which is putting it nicely. The hero is initially flung away from his hammer - transforming him back into Donald Blake, as this was in the age where, if Thor was separated from his hammer Mjolnir for longer than thirty seconds, he would transform back into his mortal form.

But this wouldn't be what would finish Thor off, as after regaining the hammer he would go after Thanos one final time, only to be turned into ice and then shattered, much like most Thor fan's hopes and dreams after seeing this particular scene.

Thor would ultimately get revived at the end of the comic like the rest of heroes who had died - but the damaged egos likely remained far afterwards.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
