Every Time Thor Has Died In Comics (And How He Came Back To Life)

4. Rogue - What If #66

Thor Odin
Marvel Comics

Pretty much every major Marvel hero has seen themselves face down Rogue and lose at some time in their career - largely because of her insane ability to siphon off the powers (and sometimes the minds) of those who she touches with her bare flesh.

While the strength and exact nature of these powers varies wildly, it's safe to say that she's at peak game in Marvel's What If? #66, where she absolutely decimates Thor, stealing his powers and thus the title of God of Thunder.

Although Thor doesn't pass away from his injuries, he is absorbed into Rogue's psyche, and appears to remove himself from existence when he realises that for all intents and purposes, she is the new Thor - which is death without the killing blow, basically.

However, this is one death that the Odinson technically doesn't come back from, as the What If? one-shot closes with Rogue becoming considered the legitimate Thor by literally everyone, who are seemingly purposefully ignoring the fact she killed a man to get his title.
