Every Time Thor Has Died In Comics (And How He Came Back To Life)

Thor's death at the hands of Jörmungandr is perhaps the single most well-known demise the hero has, helped significantly by the fact that it matches the actual Norse mythology, meaning those who nothing about the Marvel God of Thunder can still be aware of his fate when fighting 'The Serpent'.

Which in a way is ironic, because many dyed in the wool Thor fans found themselves led into a false sense of security about Thor fighting his unfortunate lizard relative, as earlier comics had suggested that this would never kill the Odinson, as Odin had carried out several elaborate plans prior with the intention of saving his favourite son's life.

But these plans would all turn out to be for nothing, as Thor would still ultimately fight Jörmungandr, and would still die defeating him. Not all for naught, however, as Thor's death would see him go to the Demogorge - where all gods supposedly go when they die - which he would be rescued from by the motley crew of the Silver Surfer and Loki.
