Every X-Men Team - Ranked From Worst To Best

There are a lot of X-cellent groups to consider...

The number of X-Men splinter teams is pretty bonkers; there are probably more now defunct X-teams than there are active (non-mutant) superhero teams in the Marvel Universe as a whole, all because one bald-headed dude had an ego large enough to decide that naming his group of superpowered teens after himself was acceptable.

What spawned as a result were an onslaught of pun-ily titled teams, 'X' this, 'X' that, alongside several other groups that decided to be more original and X-clude themselves from the typical naming conventions for mutant superhero squads (though this latter type generally ended up becoming relatively obscure, of course).

Yet, obscurity, bad team names, and bald-headed egotists are not the only factors in what makes a good X-Men group - there are several other aspects to consider: the roster, the costumes, the various iterations - they may not be as important as the factor of whether the team name is a pun or not, but they require examination regardless.

With those criteria established, here are the not so official rankings for the comic book X-Men teams, worst to best.

11. X-Terminators

With a name like the X-Terminators, it would be reasonable to assume that this group is one of the X-Men's more successful spin-offs, maybe a precursor to the X-Force or some sort of well-meaning mutant hit squad led by Magneto or Wolverine? Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Instead, the X-Terminators are a spin-off of a spin-off, and not a very successful one at that. The team's origins are tied to X-Factor, yet the roster of the X-Terminators features none of the classic X-Men from X-Factor that might have sustained the group beyond the four issues that they appeared in.

Yep, four issues. Clearly neither the readers nor Marvel considered the X-Terminators to be anything good and neither should you, they are rubbish.
