Frank Miller: Ranking His Comics From Worst To Best
11. The Big Guy And Rusty The Boy Robot (1995)
Just when you thought Frank Miller was incapable of writing anything that wasn't packed with incredible violence and sleazy characters, along comes Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot. Miller's second collaboration with artist Geof Darrow proves to be one of the most interesting additions in Miller's canon. When an experiment gone wrong unleashes a gigantic reptilian monster on the streets of Japan, Rusty the Boy Robot does his best to stop the threat. Overmatched, Japan requests that the U.S. version of Rusty be sent in to help - and the colossal walking arsenal Big Guy does just that. Fox Kids managed to turn this comic into an animated series, and it's easy to see why: simply, this is the most kid-friendly entry in Miller's long bibliography. Drawn in vibrant color by Geof Darrow and released, fittingly, in massive oversized format, Big Guy and Rusty is worth reading just to know that Miller isn't all dark and stormy.
