17. Spawn/Batman (1994)
In a similar vein to the earlier Robocop/Terminator team-up is the 1994 one-shot Spawn/Batman, an intercompany crossover starring two of the darkest superheroes ever created. Perfect, right? No! Spawn/Batman showed one of the earliest instances of Miller's penchant for portraying Batman - and Spawn, too, in this case - in what many fans would politely call "a poor light". To put it simply, the characterisations are awful. No longer are these the darkest heroes of their respective companies - now they're whiny children dressed up in costumes. The drawings by Todd McFarlane are not that bad, but Miller's crude Batman would resurface in his later works. A few years after Spawn/Batman, Miller dropped what was quite possibly the most disappointing book of his entire career...
