Marvel: 10 Alternate Universes That Deserve To Be Onscreen

6. Furries? Furries. (Larval Earth)

We didn't think it'd work, but John Mulaney as Spider-Ham (and subsequent animated short comedy episodes taking place on Larval Earth in Spiderverse's special features) have proven that there is absolutely a market for the slapstick silliness of Larval Earth and its punny animal versions of Marvel characters, such as Captain Americat and Iron Mouse, and their team of Scavengers.

Anthropomorphised animals have always made for good comedy and strangely appropriate social commentary when done right (Bojack Horseman being one such example), but with Larval Earth being fully aware of its silliness, sticking to almost Looney Tunes-esque ridiculousness would probably work better than any attempt to go to self-serious.

It doesn't mean, however, that it can't be done with wit and intelligence, and a little more Mulaney would go a long way to give this particular adaptation a classic, almost vaudevillian edge to its ripe comedic potential.
