2. The First Page Will Echo 1939's Marvel Comics #1

2019 is Marvel's 80th birthday, and it all comes from Timely Comics publishing Marvel Comics #1 in 1939.
As was previously mentioned, the issue saw the introduction of the original android Human Torch and Namor the Submariner. They would go onto form one half of the Invaders, Marvel's wartime group of superheroes that featured Captain America and Bucky. Everything that came after owes its existence to that comic, and so Marvel will dive head first into the issue with in their upcoming comic.
According to Marvel, the very first page "will reflect a panel from the original first issue and go on to reveal more mysteries of the Marvel Universe". Fans eager to get a head start might do well to read the original 1939 comic in that case, as it may hold clues as to what it is exactly the publisher are planning.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
