The Blue Lantern Corps are powered by the Blue Light of Hope. It's an interesting fact that all current Blue Lanterns follow a religious theme for their appearance like nuns, priests, etc.

They are one of most powerful Lantern Corps ever but also one of the weakest, because although their rings grant them an arsenal of powers, they work at their full potential only in the presence of an active Green Lantern Ring. They also cease to work without hope.

The Blue Lantern Corps was founded by two former Oans - Ganthet and Sayd - after they were exiled from Oa for acknowledging the Blackest Night prophecy.

After their exile, they settled on the planet Odym where they tapped into the power of hope to create the first Blue Lantern Power Ring and Battery, their aim being to keep hope alive in the minds of individuals throughout the universe. The Blue Lantern Corps follow a very unique procedure to recruit new members in which the most recent recruit picks the next candidate.

Oath: "In fearful day, in raging night, with strong hearts full, our souls ignite. When all seems lost in the War of Light, look to the stars, for hope burns bright!"
