Spider-Man - 10 Worst Things J. Jonah Jameson Has Ever Done

5. Helped Launch The Spidey Slayer

Sometimes for jolly Jameson hiring people to do his dirty work isn't enough, and his rage is enough to see him dirty his hands on the field himself.

Spider-Slayers were a series of robot machines designed by the scientist Dr. Spencer Smythe, the creations of which were funded personally by Jameson. Jameson would really begin to reveal both his true hatred for Spider-Man (as well as his slightly twisted ability to conjure up new ways of inflicting pain), by helping to develop newer and more destructive machines as the years rolled on.

Jameson would attack Spider-Man a few times with Smythe's designs, being thwarted with every attempt by the wall-crawler. Although, it was arguably the scientist that probably wished they had never crossed paths with Jameson before too long.

With JJ constantly going to him for another machine, Smythe eventually succumbed to radiation poisoning from working too closely with his materials for too long. As a final act of vengeance against the two people he deemed responsible, Smythe would attempt to murder both Spidey and Jameson in The Amazing Spider-Man #191-192, but died quickly after being stopped by the web-slinger.
