Spider-Man Symbolism: What 10 Famous Villains Really Mean

2. Lizard - A Constant Reminder Of His Uncle's Killer

It may be a loose connection, but there is definitely a similarity between the rise of the Lizard and the killer of Peter Parker's Uncle Ben. The Lizard and the killer were both assisted by Peter Parker before committing acts of crime. In his early days as Spider-Man, Peter Parker allowed his Uncle's killer to evade him when a security guard was chasing him after a robbery - he went on to kill his Uncle Ben and Peter Parker, therefore, had essentially aided him on the path to doing so. Peter Parker was also an assistant to Curt Connors in the laboratory, when he was testing the formulas that would lead to him becoming the Lizard and, as such, Parker somewhat assisted him on his path to villainy. Therefore, every time Spider-Man sees Lizard, he is reminded of the fact he helped him become the Lizard and subsequently reminded of the fact that he helped his Uncle's killer on his path to committing the murder. The monster Curt Connors has become, therefore, is reflective of the monster Peter Parker feels that he is when he looks back at the part he played in the death of his beloved Uncle Ben.
