Spider-Man: 10 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About Spider-Verse

7. Morlun's Role In Peter's Life Is Ultimately Trivialised

Along with Solus' fall from his once staggering position of power, Morlun suffers a similar trivialisation through the pages of Spider-Verse. Morlun's been a fantastic foe for Peter over the years and signals of his arrival in a new story have always been reasons to be both excited and apprehensive about what's about to ensue.

Over the course of Spider-Verse, however, Morlun's seemingly boundless power is revealed to be more flawed than we previously believed. His ability to return to life after various defeats, for example, proves to be the work of a body-cloning facility that's being run by fellow Inheritor Jennix. The life force of each Inheritor is shown to remain after the body is destroyed, and a cloned body is then used in its place.

While it's good to get an insight into how Morlun has been so prominent for so long, the mechanics of it are underwhelming and do the character no favours. Marvel comics are brimming with seemingly indestructible characters without so much consideration for realisitic possibility, and in this case it would have been better to keep a little of the mystery around Morlun's life intact.
