Star Wars: 10 Best Expanded Universe Comics From The New Canon

9. Darth Maul (2017)

Star Wars Vader Down
Marvel Comics

Written by Charle Soule (Death of Wolverine) and drawn by Luke Ross (Hercules), this terrific creative team manage to capture the extreme violence in both Darth Maul's thoughts and actions.

Many years before the rise of the Empire, Maul sets off on a secret mission, secret even from Darth Sidious. He hunts down a Jedi apprentice to prove his ability and dominance of the Dark Side of the force.

The comic presents a range of Maul's skills as he tries to conceal his Sith abilities to operate undetected from the Jedi Council. From negotiation to hand-to-hand combat, everything the Sith apprentice does is reinforced by a rage and aggression that the reader can feel dripping from every page.

Soule and Ross perfectly capture the essence of the character as he attempts to prove his power. It is a must-read for any fan of the dark side or the Prequels.
