The Walking Dead: 10 Comic Moments That Went Too Far

5. The Prison Massacre

The Prison Battle is one of the greatest moments in the entire run of the comic series.

It was translated to TV in the fourth season with the episode Too Far Gone and while it was one of best episodes of the show, it didn't even come close to the brutality of the Prison Battle from the comics. Of everyone present at the prison at the time, only Rick, Carl and Michonne survived.

At the start of volume eight a large part of the group, including Dale, Glenn and Maggie, flee the Prison to avoid the conflict.

They made the right choice, as things kick off with Tyreese being decapitated outside the Prison walls, followed up by the Governor returning with his army and a tank. This sees Hershel, Axel, Billy, Patricia, Alice, Lori and even Judith killed.

Yep, that's right. Judith, the baby, does not survive the conflict.

As Rick, Carl and Lori flee the Prison, Lori is shot through the stomach as she carries Judith. Rick and Carl are helpless in the situation and can only keep running, leaving Lori and Judith behind. It's nothing but a massacre and it's one that doesn't hold back on it's own brutality.
