Venom: 11 WTF Moments Not Used In The Film
1. Love And Marriage
A major part of the Symbiote's original story with Spider-Man was its obsession with him, before it became hateful when it fused with Eddie Brock, who blamed Spidey for his failings.
Over time away from Spidey, however, Brock and the Symbiote formed a co-dependent bond, openly referred to love, with Eddie calling the Symbiote "darling", "love", "sweetheart", and the Symbiote at one point likening their relationship to "marriage".
Even if at first, the Symbiote thought of Brock as a lesser host, this attachment would manifest on multiple occasions, including the time when Mac Gargan's Venom tried to kill Eddie Brock and the Symbiote stopped him out of affection for Eddie.
It also found itself torn between Brock and Flash Thompson, where Flash's heroic nature and equal partnership with the Symbiote as Agent Venom battled with its love for Eddie. Flash would eventually approve of Eddie's bond with the Symbiote, after he showed heroism when they fought against the villain Maniac.
Even with their rocky history, after having a child together, after the Symbiote ate away Brock's cancer and protected him from harm for years, the fact that it loves him is unsurprising. A little odd, but still... unsurprising.
