Despite the Suicide Squad drafting most of its forces from the various villains from the DC universe, Amanda Waller has occasionally recruited heroes too - or at least figures that later went on to become heroes further down the line.
The first hero to join the Suicide Squad was Vixen, a superhero able to channel the abilities of various animals into her own body. A bloody encounter with some drug smugglers leads her to the Squad's employ, and she decides to join them in order to keep her powers in check. Vixen then develops a relationship with Bronze Tiger, only for it to fall apart as the latter's mental struggles led him to leave the team.
Apart from Vixen, the likes of Roy Harper, Hawkman, Wildcat, Steel and even Power Girl have all served with Task Force X.
Barbara Gordon even made her comeback after The Killing Joke in the pages of Suicide Squad, rebranding as Oracle and henceforth putting the character on a path towards stardom alongside the Birds of Prey and various other Bat-titles.
