What Happened To Every MAJOR Character Who Joined The Suicide Squad?

6. Captain Boomerang

Captain Boomerang Suicide Squad
DC Comics

Captain Boomerang (Digger Harkness) is one of the Suicide Squad's more prolific members, but he didn't actually start out as such in the beginning. His early adventures with Task Force X were typified by the character's general incompetence and racism, and it meant the rest of the squad (and Amanda Waller herself) came to revile Harkness in the long run.

Still, Boomerang remained on the team, determined to receive a pardon for the crimes he committed as one of the Flash's more successful rogues. That didn't stop him from sabotaging his accomplices however, as Digger would allow Mindboggler to get shot and - just as he did in the 2016 Suicide Squad film - even encouraged Slipknot to escape to test the explosive collars Waller had placed on the entire unit, which of course led to his death.

For all that Harkness was a perennial nuisance, he was still a competent fighter. An asset, even if that meant friction on the team itself.

As for what became of Harkness and the Squad... that's actually less certain. Doomsday Clock - a series meant to take place a year from current DC continuity - sees the character claim that he was the only one to make it out of a botched Squad mission to Kahndaq. Here's hoping answers are on their way.
