What Happened To Everyone Who Became Batman?

3. Terry McGinnis

Even though most fans love Terry McGinnis due to his exploits on the adored Batman Beyond animated TV show, he hasn't actually been in the comics all that long - at least not when it comes to mainstream DC Continuity.

It wasn't until Batman #700, when Grant Morrison illustrated the immortal qualities of Batman, that Terry was finally introduced into the DC Universe with a brief flash-forward into the future, where he's being mentored by Damian Wayne. This preempted an actual Batman Beyond comic helmed by Adam Beechen and Ryan Benjamin, which spotlighted the fan-favourite dynamic shared between an older Bruce and the teenage McGinnis.

The series has undergone various changes since the first volume released in 2010, but Terry has since become an established member of DC continuity, surviving each successive reboot even after being temporarily replaced by Tim Drake in the role.

More recently, the series has even devoted time to exploring what happened to Dick Grayson in the future. The character was mentioned only by name in the TV series, but has developed a recurring role in the comics as of 2019, with Terry still the Batman of Neo-Gotham.
