What Happened To Everyone Who Became Ghost Rider?

6. Michael Badilino/Vengeance I

Cosmic Ghost Rider Frank Castle
Marvel Comics

But of course, not every Ghost Rider is a hero. Remember, these are spirits of VENGEANCE, not heroism, so the vengeance that the host seeks can easily turn evil. Case in point, Michael Badilino, the first incarnation of the villain Vengeance.

Michael was a detective, whose defining trait was a seething hatred of Ghost Rider. Back when Johnny Blaze was possessed by an evil spirit that caused him to go on a rampage, he ended up driving Michael's father insane, causing him to murder his wife, daughter, and then himself, with Michael Jr. just barely managing to avoid a similar fate.

As you can imagine, Michael is not too keen on the idea of TWO Ghost Riders running around, and strikes his own deal with Mephisto to get his revenge, gaining his own spirit of vengeance in the process. As the villain Vengeance, he tirelessly hunted the two Ghost Riders before realizing that his family has a much deeper connection to the spirit of vengeance lineage than he once thought. New perspective gained, he dropped his vendetta and attempted to use his powers for good.

This was, tragically, short lived.

Not long after dedicating himself to the side of good, Michael was kidnapped and driven mad by the villain Anton Hellgate. In his crazed state, like his father before him, Michael proceeded to slaughter his friends and coworkers before Danny managed to snap him out of it. But once realizing what he had done, Michael, overcome with grief and guilt, took his own life in penance.
