Continuing the trend of not so stable Heralds, Red Shift came into the employ of Galactus at a time where the Devourer had grown a particular taste for intelligent life. Red Shift, seemingly ambivalent to the ethics of such an addiction, led his master to Earth once more, which leads to a fight with Silver Surfer.
The ensuing battle eventually leeds Red Shift to get trapped in a Black Hole, and to Galactus' seeming demise. Red Shift, meanwhile, wouldn't return until the events of Annihilation, where he was destroyed as an energy wave engulfed his position.
Of all his Heralds, Red Shift is one we know the least about. He has no origin - he just sort of... was, for a little while.
