What Happened To Everyone Who Became Horsemen Of Apocalypse?

8. Sunfire

Sunfire Horseman of the Apocalypse
Marvel Comics

Like Gazer, Sunfire found his way to Apocalypse in the wake of M Day - although with great reluctance. Longtime X-Men fans will of course recognise Shiro Yoshida as one of the team's members introduced just before the book's rebirth in Giant Size #1, and one who, while hot-tempered, possessed one of the coolest power-sets going.

That wasn't enough to spare him a gruesome fate however. Sunfire had lost his powers during the events of M Day and, just as Apocalypse did with Angel and Wolverine, Nur promised to restore them if he accepted a role as a new Horseman. Shiro obliged this request, but quickly had second thoughts the moment he saw what effect the treatment had on Gazer, i.e., bad.

It was Gazer who recaptured Sunfire after he tried to escape, at which point Shiro is then forcefully transformed into Famine.

Fortunately, after some mental tinkering from Emma Frost, Shiro returns back to normal and fights off an attack from Gazer. He later joins the Uncanny Avengers, but is yet to make an appearance in the new Dawn of X reboot.
