Why Comic Fans Hate Cyclops

4. His Powers Are A Bit Naff

Cyclops Evolution
Marvel Comics

Don't get us wrong, being able to fire optic blasts at will sounds pretty cool in the right circumstances. The thing is, that's all that Cyclops has to offer on the superpowers front.

In the pantheon of mutant abilities, Cyke is way, way down the pecking order when it comes to those who have been handed some truly great powers.

Of course, there is an element of sympathy towards Scott Summers, for he has to wear a protective visor at all times in order to maintain some semblance of control over the optic beams that fire out from his eyes. But still, sympathy can only go so far - and let's face it, comic book fans, particularly in their formative years, are far more interested in those characters who have all variety of amazing powers at their disposal.

One power that you could say Scott does have on his side, is his leadership skills. The thing is, even though he's so often led the X-Men into battle, he's also shown that his leadership skills can be questionable at times.

If Cyclops gives out an order and constructs a plan, rarely does anyone else get to have any genuine input into the conversation. And when that plan goes belly up, Cyke buries his head and blames it all on other people.
