2. The Comics Have Been Incredible

C'mon - did you really think we were going to leave out the comics?

As you may expect from the nature of this article, the Spider-Man books that have been published this year have been fantastic also, we've had the Spectacular Spider-Man from Chip Zdarsky, the Amazing Spider-Man from Nick Spencer, an enjoyably-ridiculous follow-up to Spider-Verse in the form of Spider-Geddon, and the start of a new Miles Morales series from the brilliant Saladin Ahmed.

And while the majority of them may have focused on the exploits of Peter Parker, the combination of Ahmed's comic and the Spider-Geddon event has made sure that the message that anyone can where the mask, no matter their race, gender or religion, was once again exemplified to readers of the books - encapsulating the everyman nature of the character that was defined in Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's original works surrounding Spider-Man.
