10 Absolutely Terrible B-Movies That Have Become Cult Classics
1. The Room
No list of good bad movies would be complete without The Room. This is a film so notoriously terrible that another movie (The Disaster Artist, starring James Franco) was actually made focusing on the story of how and why The Room ever came into existence.
Tommy Wiseau is the star of the show, in every sense possible. His direction and writing are bad enough, but his comically over-the-top acting style and impossible accent are simply incredible. Completely oblivious to the gigantic flaws throughout The Room, Wiseau is the undisputed king of bad movies.
The Room tells a strange and inconsistent tale of love and life, with several scenes and plotlines going absolutely nowhere. The characters change tone and personality at the drop of a hat, the plot is riddled with continuity issues, and major news like the reveal that one character has cancer is just dropped casually into conversation and never addressed again.
The film, naturally, received countless negative reviews but many fans got in touch with Wiseau to tell him how much they'd loved it, so he started organising midnight screenings. These little events became very popular and the film started to be shown more frequently all around the world, with audience members dressing up as different characters, shouting out their favourite lines, and even tossing around footballs and plastic spoons in reference to some of The Room's most memorable moments.
