10 Actors About To Make Their Best Movie
4. Michael Cera - The Phoenician Scheme
Micheal Cera has spent the last 20 years performing in a bevy of popular works, from legendary sitcom Arrested Development to hit comedies like Superbad, Juno, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, This Is the End, and Barbie, and oddball romps such as Youth in Revolt, Crystal Fairy, and the third season of Twin Peaks.
Given his tendency to gravitate towards quirky cinema and auteur filmmakers, it's honestly strange he hasn't yet appeared in a Wes Anderson film, but that's duly set to change with his role in Anderson's new project The Phoenician Scheme.
The finer details remain firmly under wraps for now, but the film is said to be an espionage thriller, with Cera playing a major character named Bjorn Lund.
Cera's acting sensibilities seem like a fine fit for Anderson's ever-evolving acting troupe, and at present Variety has him among their top picks for 2026's Best Supporting Actor Oscar winners.
And even if not, it's going to be a sheer delight to see him chewing through Anderson's singular dialogue while working opposite a stupendously diverse cast, including Benicio del Toro, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and many more.
